The JEMS 4 Pillars

By far, the most important function of JEMS is to connect our Jewish Middle Schoolers and help them foster community and friendship with their peers. A very close second function is to simply have fun. However, nobody ever said that fun activities can't be infused with continual opportunities for personal growth. As such, all JEMS activities are structured around one or more of our Four Pillars which are designed to help each of our Jewish Middle Schoolers be the best version of themselves.

PILLAR 1

JEWISH VALUES

We believe incorporating Jewish values in our JEMS youth program is necessary in helping our youth grow to their full potential. Nurturing Jewish values such as diversity, tolerance, inclusivity, social responsibility, strong ethics, tikkun olam, relevant Judaic teachings, personal growth, and community involvement will empower our Jewish youth to make a positive impact in their lives.

PILLAR 2

EDUCATION & LIFELONG LEARNING

Learning doesn’t stop when school does. At JEMS, we encourage continual learning about Judaism and personal growth. We also explore the mosaic of Jewish cultures and traditions, understanding that we're all part of one large, diverse family.

PILLAR 3

MENTORSHIP

We believe the key to unlocking growth in our Jewish youth lies in developing trusted relationships, like the ones formed through mentoring and collaborative learning. Providing youth with good role models can have a powerful, positive impact on their lives.

PILLAR 4

SERVICE PROJECTS

JEMS youth will engage in service projects that benefit both local and global Jewish communities. Recognizing the needs of others and taking action is a core part of the JEMS experience, helping our youth connect with their heritage and make a real difference in the world.
